Huntsville Animal Services dog and cat kennels at critical capacity

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Animal Services said they are facing a Level Four situation, meaning there is critical overcrowding in both their dog and cat holding areas.

After approaching capacity last week, the shelter said that adopters, fosters, volunteers and rescue groups stepped in to help relieve the shelter. However, HAS said the relief did not last long.

As of 12 p.m. on Thursday, HAS said every kennel in both the dog and cat stray hold areas is full. There are no available kennels, with roughly 172 animals in the building…
