Power utility sets special rate for data centers, including in Alabama

The Tennessee Valley Authority will soon impose a 10% rate increase for data center companies using the utility’s power, setting a special rate just for these customers, including some in Alabama.

The regional utility’s board unanimously voted in favor of the rate change during its quarterly meeting on Thursday in Memphis, Tenn. TVA serves not only part of Alabama, but also some parts of Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
