GURLEY, Ala. (WAFF) – On Wednesday, the Huntsville Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) voted to install safety upgrades at a Madison County Railroad crossing. The MPO accepted a $360,000 federal grant, distributed through ALDOT.
The crossing is at the intersection of Salty Bottom Road and Hwy 72 near Gurley. In May 2026, Keegan Davis and his daughter McKinley were hit and killed at the crossing that has no gates or flashing lights.
