Attorney for Ronald Dumas kidnapping suspect seeks to withdraw from case

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The attorney for one of the suspects in the kidnapping of Huntsville realtor Ronald Dumas Jr. has asked a judge to withdraw from the case.

According to court documents, Chad Morgan has asked a judge for permission to withdraw as Toure McLaurin’s lawyer as he takes on his new role as Director of the Madison County Public Defender’s Office.

Morgan cites the “substantial time and professional obligations associated with establishing the public defender’s office and transitioning into the role of Director,” as reasons he is unable “to continue representation in his existing court-appointed cases while also devoting the time and attention necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of his new position.” He stepped into his new role on Tuesday, Sept. 1…
