The transformation of farmland into a thriving community near the Interstate 65-565 interchange in Limestone County has begun.
Developers and Huntsville city officials broke ground Monday on the $2.2 billion Westmoore Landing development on the western edge of the city not far from the historic town of Mooresville.
When completed, the development is expected to be home to 3,500 homes of various types, retail, restaurants and other businesses.
“The McCrary family has been on this land for generations,” developer Trey Rochford of Rochford Realty & Construction Co. Inc. said of the nearly 400-acre site annexed into Huntsville last year. “They worked this land for generations. When they decided something needed to occur here, they didn’t want to go to the ordinary. They wanted something that is unique, something that is special and something that would create an impact well beyond the next generation.”…
