Nearly 5,000 new apartment units drive rental competition in Madison County

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Rent in Madison County is becoming more competitive as thousands of new apartment units enter the market, leading some complexes to offer free or discounted rent to attract tenants.

According to local real estate broker Mike Sandoval, nearly 5,000 apartment units were built in Madison County in 2025. Rent is averaging between $1,100 and $1,300 a month. There are currently 524 single-family homes listed for rent.
