HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The lack of rain has worsened drought conditions here in the Tennessee Valley.
The drought monitor is released weekly on Thursday mornings. The data analyzed is collected each Tuesday morning.
The drought conditions continue to worsen across the Tennessee Valley following September’s lack of rainfall. Severe drought conditions are now being noted in Southern Middle Tennessee along with far northern Jackson, Limestone, and Madison counties. The beige colors show areas experiencing a moderate drought.
Areas highlighted in yellow represent areas where abnormally dry conditions are occurring. These areas were lucky enough to see rain and storms move over them in September.
Beneficial rain is expected this weekend, but the latest model trends are showing the weekend won’t be a washout. Isolated showers and storms will be possible on Friday before becoming more scattered in nature Saturday through Sunday.
