HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A new Alabama law in now in effect, giving eligible military veterans a pathway to teach in classrooms while working toward the college degree normally required for many teaching positions.
Senate Bill 149 establishes the Military Veteran Temporary Teaching Certificate. The law is intended to help address teacher shortages while giving veterans another opportunity to serve their communities. Governor Kay Ivey signed the bill into law in March.
