HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The workweek will shape up perfectly for the Tennessee Valley with plenty of sunshine and seasonable temperatures.
As we inch closer to the weekend, we will be closely monitoring the tropics and the potential for heavy rain.
We will likely see the next tropical storm of the season form in the next 24 hours. The newly formed storm would be named Isaias. With ingredients in place over the Gulf, this system could intensify to a strong tropical storm or a hurricane. Early signs in the model data are showing the system could make landfall over Louisiana and then track northeast over land.

Along the Gulf Coast, rough surf, strong winds, and heavy rain look likely. The rip current risk is forecast to increase along the Gulf Coast. If you have plans to head to the shore this weekend, make sure you are checking back for updates!
What we need to watch:
The key determining factor as to how impactful this system could be here in the Tennessee Valley will be the track of this tropical system. If we continue to see a westerly track, it would place our region on the right side of the storm. This would support a higher flow of moisture into our region…
