Residents at Huntsville apartment complex face displacement after weeks-long power outage

MADISON COUNTY, Alabama — Residents at a local apartment complex have been without power for nearly three weeks and may face arrest if they do not vacate their units following a city condemnation order.

The City of Huntsville condemned units in Building 3 of Aurora Luxury Apartments on Monday, declaring that the ongoing power outage renders several of the units uninhabitable.

Residents say the outage stems from a damaged breaker box that cut power to hallways and units on the entire right side of the building. The power first went out unexpectedly for approximately five days before being restored, only to shut off again just days later…
