Huntsville shelter’s longest resident seeks forever home

A dog at Huntsville Animal Services has been waiting longer than any other dog at the shelter to find a home.

Duke has been at the shelter since November 2025. He’s the shelter’s longest resident, waiting 145 days for a family to adopt him.

John Fischer, director of Animal Services for the City of Huntsville, said this is Duke’s third time at the shelter. The previous two times, staff were able to reunite him with his family, but this time the family chose not to reclaim him…
