Huntsville school leaders address safety concerns after several guns found on campuses throughout Madison Co.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – School leaders are addressing safety concerns after several students brought guns to school in less than two months.

Five guns have been found on campuses throughout Madison County since mid-March. In the county school district, a gun was found at Buckhorn Middle School and an airsoft gun along with a glock switch were found at Hazel Green High School. In Huntsville, two guns were discovered at Grissom High School and another at Jemison High School.

“I think just us as a society has got to start holding each other accountable,” said Andrea Alvarez, a Huntsville City School board member. “Our students should not be having weapons. Our students should not feel the need to have weapons.”…
