Morgan County Schools reported a $1 million, or $14.9%, increase over last year in the total amount of scholarships awarded to students, officials said.
Last year’s scholarship total was $6.7 million and this year it is $7.8 million, Superintendent Tracie Turrentine said during a recent work session at the Central Office.
Turrentine said after the meeting that students scored higher on their ACT tests this year. That and the district opening a second career tech facility “really contributed to the 14.9% gain,” she said.
