Severe thunderstorms possible in Indiana on Tuesday

INDIANA — Parts of northern Indiana could see strong to severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening as a cold front moves across the Midwest, according to the latest forecast from the Storm Prediction Center.

Forecasters have placed northern Indiana under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather, meaning isolated severe storms are possible. The threat is expected to develop during the afternoon and continue into the evening hours.

Meteorologists say moisture returning northward ahead of an approaching cold front will help fuel thunderstorm development. While some storms that form earlier in the day are expected to remain below severe limits, a few could produce isolated damaging wind gusts.
