EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -Summer begins with the threat for severe weather across the Tri-State Sunday afternoon through early Monday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire region in a level 2/5 risk for damaging winds, tornadoes, large hail and flooding rainfall. A few isolated storms will be possible Sunday afternoon, but the main line or lines of storms will sweep through after 5pm and through the overnight hours.
Sunday will be warm and much more humid with highs in the upper 80s. That moist air will provide abundant fuel for storms later in the day. Locally heavy rainfall of 1-2″ is possible. A flood watch continues for Southern Indiana and Illinois and may be expanded to include Western Kentucky.
Once the storms wind down on Monday, we’ll enjoy seasonable temps and lower humidity Tuesday through Thursday. Highs will climb into the middle 80s and lows will fall into the lower 60s each day. More rain and storms possible by the end of the week…
