Residents displaced after NW side apartment fire

INDIANAPOLIS – An early morning fire on the northwest side of Indianapolis drove several people from their homes.

Crews were dispatched around 4:10 a.m. Thursday to an apartment fire in the 5200 block of Woodbrook Drive. That’s near Georgetown Road and West 52nd Street.

According to the Pike Township Fire Department, 12 people were displaced and one person was slightly injured after they tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. The fire affected eight total units.

A social media post from the department stated that when crews arrived, heavy fire was found on the front second-floor balcony. Crews reportedly made “an aggressive attack” and were able to knock the fire down.
