INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after admitting in court that he beat his 76-year-old wife to death with a hammer.
Mary Ogle died on the afternoon of Jan. 17, 2025, after a violent attack on the city’s near northwest side. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. She was 76.
‘There’s been some violence’
When Indianapolis police officers arrived at Ogle’s home on Questend Drive that afternoon, her husband, Terry Ogle, was immediately detained. Court documents detail how the 79-year-old man was the one who called 911 to report his wife’s death.
“The nature of the emergency is that there’s been some violence,” Ogle reportedly told dispatchers. “I did it. She’s deceased. Yeah, she’s been down for a while. It’s too late.”
Inside the home, which is near W. 30th Street and W. Kessler Blvd N Drive, officers found Mary on her back, half covered by a blanket. Blood covered the area and was found on a pillow, on a recliner, on the wall, on the stairs and in the kitchen sink…
