Downed powerlines and overturned semis left portions of a major interstate in northwest Indiana shut down as officials work to figure out how to safely reopen the roadway.
Sgt. Glen Fifield with the Indiana State Police Lowell Post told NBC Chicago multiple semis rolled over due to high winds as powerful and damaging storms burst through the region.
“We’ve got two rolled over semis. We have one that was down near Lowell on the northbound side of I-65, and another one here southbound at US 30, just north of US 30,” he said. “That’s causing problems.”…
