Rezoning OK’d for gas station along rural U.S. 421

The Boone County Commissioners approved a rezoning Aug. 17 for a proposed gas station along U.S. 421, north of Zionsville.

The property at the southwest corner of 300 North and U.S. 421, about 1 mile north of the Zionsville town limits on the northeast side of town, is eyed for a fueling station and convenience store by owner Dennis Hollingsworth. The rezoning will change the property from local business to general business.

It was unclear if the project had a path forward after it received an unfavorable recommendation from Boone County Area Plan Commission in June. The commission had concerns about drainage and how a rezoning could impact the rural area…
