The main attraction at Monroe Lake is obviously the water — the fish think so, anyway. Anglers may be pleased to learn that fishing at the lake happens in every season. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are plentiful in the lake throughout the year, and regularly stocked striped bass and hybrid bass often yield 10-pound catches. Other species include crappie, walleye, and several kinds of catfish. Anglers can fish from the shore or from the ice as well as from a boat, with plenty of boat launches, marinas, and watercraft rental facilities operating year-round at the lake.
