Indianapolis man facing life in prison for drug trafficking, guns

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis man convicted of drug trafficking and carrying firearms faces life in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana.

Manuel L. Brown, 49, of Indianapolis, was found guilty of trafficking methamphetamine, carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and being a felon in possession of a gun.

According to court documents, on Sept. 3, 2020, officers from the Fishers Police Department observed a Dodge caravan commit multiple traffic violations. Officers conducted a traffic stop and identified Brown as the driver. Police called a K9 officer to the scene and determined that there was the possible presence of drugs inside the vehicle.

Crews searched the car and found a glass smoking pipe with meth residue, two loaded .22 caliber revolvers, a loaded Smith and Wesson revolver, a zippered case containing a loaded .45 caliber pistol, multiple plastic bags containing a total of 214 grams of meth, 20 grams of heroin and fentanyl, two digital scales, plastic bags for packing drugs, a night vision rifle scope, multiple boxes of ammunition, and $1750 in cash.
