INDIANAPOLIS — Police have uncovered a large drug-dealing operation after the United States Postal Service flagged a suspicious package shipped to Indiana that allegedly contained cocaine.
According to court documents, Juan Gutierrez Perez faces several felony drug dealing charges and resisting law enforcement.
Initial investigation
Detectives initially became aware of Perez on April 6 after a package arrived in Indiana after being shipped from Texas. The United States Postal Service immediately flagged the package as being suspicious and requested assistance from the Criminal Interdiction Unit of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Court documents show the package was addressed to a “Juan Gutierrez” at an apartment located in the 3700 block of Saint Thomas Boulevard. Investigators noted that there was no phone number listed for the sender or recipient.
Detectives reported finding a double-packaged black plastic bag when analyzing the package. Within the second black plastic bag, police reportedly discovered a clear plastic bag containing around 122 grams of a substance that later tested positive for cocaine…
