Docs: Fourth suspect arrested in attempted robbery that left Indy father dead

INDIANAPOLIS — Police have arrested a fourth suspect for his alleged role in a botched robbery that resulted in the shooting death of a father on the north side of Indianapolis last year.

On Wednesday, charges were brought forward against 20-year-old Steven Rodgers after he was connected to an attempted robbery case involving three other suspects on Jan 25, 2025.

Newly filed court documents allege that Rodgers accompanied Malachi Wells, Alexis Hawkins and Brian Winston as they lured Jarrell Pryor to the 4900 block of Primrose Avenue under the pretext that he was going on a date with Hawkins. Instead, the group planned to rob him.

The incident ended with Pryor’s murder. When police discovered Pryor, he was sitting outside his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was just 26 years old and the father of a 3-year-old girl…
