When the officer initiated a traffic stop in Elwood at the intersection of State Road 47 and County Road 1000 North, Milnickel allegedly sped up to 120 mph and a pursuit began.

According to court documents, multiple agencies deployed stop sticks at several intersections. This caused the suspect to lose two tires but she kept driving. The initial responding officer also lost a tire but another officer took over.
