Marine fast charging company Aqua superPower recently installed and activated Southern California’s first marine fast charger, now available to Aqua superPower members at Newport Beach’s marina.
The Aqua charger, capable of delivering up to 24 kW of power via the international CCS standard, is now operational at Marina Park. Designed specifically for the harsh marine environment, the unit ensures safe and reliable recharging for a wide range of electric vessels, according to the company, from leisure craft to commercial operators. By supporting the transition to electric boating, the installation helps eliminate range anxiety and aligns with California’s clean energy mandates, contributing to a significant reduction in carbon emissions from recreational marine activity.
Aqua superPower Empowering Boaters
Newport Harbor is one of the largest recreational harbors in the United States and considered to be the jewel of Newport Beach, according to the company. Last year, Newport Beach Harbor Department became the first the first public agency in the U.S. to add a boat powered entirely by electricity to its fleet of vehicles with a Vita workboat. The Vita boat qualified for a Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) voucher, so about half of what the city spent on it was refunded by the state.
“This installation represents a gamechanger for Southern California’s boating community,” said Scott Canning, US VP Business Development for Aqua superPower, in a news release. “Newport Beach is a gateway to pristine coastal waters, and by bringing our fast-charging infrastructure here, we’re not just powering electric boats—we’re fueling a sustainable future for marine electrification. Our brand-agnostic technology supports every major electric boat manufacturer, making the switch to e-boating seamless and accessible for all.”…
