JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – There have been more and more sightings of alligators and black bears in neighborhoods across Mississippi — and wildlife experts said there’s a reason why.
If you were driving down Lakeland Drive in Flowood over the weekend, you may have spotted a gator sprawled out in the middle of the road. experts said recent heavy rainfall is driving more sightings. Andrew Arnett is the Alligator Program Coordinator of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
He said, “There’s a little correlation with the amount of water we’re having. Of course, sometimes they’re going to wind up in places they shouldn’t be just because of the heightened water levels.”…
