JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Money left over from the completion of a water tower is allowing the Hinds County Board of Supervisors to increase the salaries of public defenders. The surplus means a boost for attorneys handling hundreds of cases in the court system.
“We plan to use that money to stabilize the people that we have,” said Hinds County Public Defender Gail Wright Lowery.
