JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Earlier this week, WJTV 12 News shared the story of Ashlee Sumrall, 17, who lost her life in a crash on Highway 49 and Cynthia Road in Jackson. Some residents said the intersection has been a long-standing safety concern and are calling for changes.
“Somebody has to say, ‘Okay, we don’t want any more of our children becoming statistics at that intersection,’” said Sheila Canada, a Hinds County resident.
Canada said she’s seen multiple wrecks over the years near Highway 49 and Cynthia Road. She said her daughter was involved in a crash in the same area years ago…
