BYRAM, Miss. (WLBT) – The Byram Swinging Bridge Festival returned Saturday at Jackson Dragway, weeks after severe weather pushed the annual event back from its original June date. Admission was free, and organizers say the decision to reschedule — rather than cancel — came down to honoring commitments already made to vendors and performers.
Mayor Richard White said the event moved forward despite losing one band in the process.
“We’d already had some commitments from our vendors and we had some commitments from the bands. We only lost one band through this whole process and we wanted to go ahead and have it,” White said. “And so that’s what we did.”…
