Local producer discusses lettuce safety amid Cyclospora news

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Robertson Produce, a third-generation, 78-year-old family business with locations in Shreveport, Monroe, and Clinton, Mississippi, says the recent Cyclospora outbreak traced back to a Mexican farm never touched their supply.

CEO Dan Robertson says their lettuce is greenhouse-grown, and every case they ship carries a traceable label, allowing them to track the produce all the way back to the exact farm and harvest day. Robertson shares advice for customers worried about the recall.

“Our industry has done a good job in making distributors like myself, and others follow the product all the way back, what we call from field to the fork, and so we can tell every case that passes through our warehouse and goes on our trucks.”…
