New resilience hub planned for South Jackson community

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A closed elementary school in South Jackson could soon have a new purpose.

One Voice is working to turn the vacant Marshall Elementary School into the South Jackson Resilience Hub and Opportunity Center. The goal is to create a space that can help the community in times of need by providing temporary shelter and healthcare services.

“This will be a distribution point for resources to the community given, again, instances like a COVID or the form of a water crisis. The community could come to this location and receive resources just as well as agencies can come here to distribute resources,” explained Jhai Keeton, director of Strategic Initiatives of One Voice…
