JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – After almost five years since a fatal shooting on a Jackson interstate, a family has received some form of justice.
The family of Miesha Robinson, 28, said they’re at ease now that the man, who was found guilty of killing her in 2021, will spend the rest of his life in prison.
On Wednesday, Carlos Varnell was sentenced to life in prison for murder, as well as an additional 15 years for aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

“I’m able to heal now. We got the justice that we deserved. It does not bring Miesha back, but to finally get the justice is the best feeling in the world,” said Cierra Rhymes, the victim’s sister who was also injured during the shooting…
