Man sentenced for fatal shooting on Jackson interstate

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – After almost five years since a fatal shooting on a Jackson interstate, a family has received some form of justice.

The family of Miesha Robinson, 28, said they’re at ease now that the man, who was found guilty of killing her in 2021, will spend the rest of his life in prison.

On Wednesday, Carlos Varnell was sentenced to life in prison for murder, as well as an additional 15 years for aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
