The Millsaps College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Trinity University on Saturday at Trinity Softball Field in San Antonio. The Majors fell 4-1 in the first game and 5-0 in the second.
In Game One, sophomore Caroline Mathis drove in a run and stole a base, while classmate Brynn Arena contributed a hit and a stolen base. Sophomore Hailey Peterson pitched 2.2 innings, allowing one run and one walk while facing 11 batters. Arena singled and later stole second in the first inning, creating early offensive pressure for Millsaps. In the third inning, freshman Liza Gregg singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Mathis executed a sacrifice bunt to score Gregg, giving the Majors a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers responded in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game at 1-1 with a double that scored a runner. They then added three runs in the inning to take a 4-1 lead. Millsaps nearly rallied in the top of the seventh, with junior Allana Vasquez singling and the team executing a double play later in the inning. However, Trinity held on to win 4-1…
