New safety features, amenities coming to Parham Bridges Park

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A major makeover, years in the making, is continuing at Parham Bridges Park in Jackson.

The upgrades are part of a $9 million improvement project led by the LeFleur East Foundation. Officials said community input helped shape the multi-phase plan, with a focus on safety, recreation and long-term growth.

So far, the first phase of the project has been completed, bringing new pickleball courts and renovated tennis courts to the park. Crews have moved into Phase 2, which includes new safety features.

“It’s a four-phase plan. We’ve done the first phase by putting in ten pickleball courts. We redid the tennis courts, and now we’re on Phase 2, which includes the fence that goes around the walking trail,” said Dr. Clay Hays, board chair of the LeFleur East Foundation. “You can see this is a nice ornamental fence that’s primarily for safety and security.”…
