Hinds County Sheriff’s Office mourns loss of Sgt. Chris Moses

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the passing of Sgt. Chris Moses, who died on May 4, 2026. He was 58.

According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, Moses dedicated more than two decades of service to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office and the Hinds County community.

“Sgt. Moses will be remembered for his leadership, compassion, and selflessness—qualities that defined both his service and his relationships with colleagues and community members. His years with the Street Crimes Unit and the Mounted Unit showcased his versatility, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to public safety,” said Jones.

Moses is survived by his wife and his children.
