Salvation Army deploys disaster relief team in Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Salvation Army mobilized its Emergency Disaster Services team and mobile canteen unit across Mississippi following the severe storms and tornadoes that struck communities Wednesday night.

The response team will provide immediate relief to affected areas, including hot meals, drinks, snacks and emotional and spiritual care for survivors, first responders and residents beginning the recovery process.

Officials said the goal is not only to meet basic needs but also to offer comfort and support as families deal with damage and loss.

“We know many families are waking up to loss, fear, and uncertainty in the aftermath of these storms,” said Major Timothy Delaney, of The Salvation Army in Jackson. “In moments like this, we are grateful to serve, to stand alongside our neighbors, and to offer practical help and compassionate support where it is needed most.”…
