In Jacksonville, Florida, military veteran Scott Baker is breathing a sigh of relief after his service dog Mal’i was found safe just after midnight on Thursday after having been missing for five days.
Baker and his service dog are from Iowa and had been in the Florida city to help his son move into an apartment as he begins to serve in the Navy while stationed in Jacksonville.
On Saturday night, Mal’i had been outside for just a few minutes when she ran onto the road outside of the Lux Apartments and was hit by a truck. Terrified, Mal’i fled. Baker was able to follow her, until she ran off a few streets away.
Baker turned to social media and the Jacksonville community to help him find his beloved pup.
Fortunately, someone reading about the accident online, had spotted the dog and helped reunite the American Staff back to her family. Baker received a message with images asking if the dog on the run was Mal’i. He confirmed her identity and went to the area where she had been spotted…
