Man in custody after Clay County deputies respond to mental health crisis in Fleming Island neighborhood

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – A man was taken into custody on Thursday night after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a mental health crisis that led to the evacuation of surrounding areas near Lake Shore Drive and Stratford Lane in Fleming Island.

A large police presence was reported Thursday night. Deputies responded to the area after a man fired a few shots into the ground, according to the CCSO.
