Another Brewery in Florida is Closing Because of Money Problems

Hyperion Brewery, nestled in the historic Springfield neighborhood, has been a cherished part of the local community since its inception in 2017. Known for its cozy taproom and enchanting “secret” beer garden, adorned with jasmine and twinkling lights, the brewery has been a beacon of relaxation and enjoyment. Garnering a high rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars, patrons have frequently lauded it as a “gem” for its dog-friendly environment, laid-back atmosphere, and diverse beer selection.

Despite its popularity and positive reception, Hyperion Brewery is facing a bittersweet end. On January 10, 2024, the brewery announced through social media that it would be closing its doors in late March of 2024. The decision not to renew its lease comes after six years of both gratifying and challenging times. The brewery expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the community for its unwavering support throughout the years.

The closure, partly attributed to economic reasons, reflects broader challenges faced by the brewery industry in Florida. Co-owner Sheree Schussman highlighted that the post-pandemic period saw dwindling sales, and there were concerns about reduced foot traffic in the urban core neighborhood. This downturn mirrors similar struggles faced by other Florida breweries like Brewer’s Pizza and Pinglehead Brewery, Persimmon Hollow Brewing, Deadwords Brewing, and Lemonstreet Brewing Company.
