Jacksonville Struck by 12th Motorcycle Fatality of the Year in Collision on Monument Road

Another traffic fatality rocked Jacksonville on a seemingly ordinary Friday night as a motorcyclist was pronounced dead after a collision with an SUV. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Monument Road. The motorcyclist, wearing a helmet, was traveling at a high speed and collided with the right rear of a Chevrolet Tahoe that was turning left into the Fort Caroline Lakes subdivision, as noted by First Coast News. This crash marks Jacksonville’s 12th motorcycle-related fatality and the 48th overall traffic death in Duval County for the year.

Authorities indicated the motorcyclist was promptly transported to the hospital but did not survive the injuries sustained in the crash. Additionally, the driver of the Tahoe sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital, as reported by WOKV. The aftermath of the collision saw northbound lanes of Monument Road closed, with expectations to remain so until the early hours of the following morning.
