Venezuelan street food is getting ready to roll into Jacksonville as a new truck, La Vinotinto Express, moves through the early stages of launch. Owner Yohara says work on the truck is already underway, with submitted plan-review documents listing 3813 University Blvd W – the University Boulevard strip between Powers and Chester avenues – as the truck’s base. An opening date and full menu are still to be determined.

Speaking with What Now, Yohara said, “We’re not sure yet when it’s going to open,” adding that “it’s going to be a food truck serving Venezuelan food.” The outlet reports that the menu remains under development and is awaiting more details from the owner.

Venezuelan flavors have already carved out a niche in Jacksonville, from sit-down spots to casual counter service. Downtown favorite Arepa Please and neighborhood staple Soto’s Kitchen both serve arepas, empanadas and cachapas, staples that point to a ready-made audience for La Vinotinto Express once it hits the road.

According to What Now, the submitted plan-review documents tying La Vinotinto Express to 3813 University Blvd W suggest the process of securing state and local approvals is underway. In Florida, mobile food vendors apply through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and the agency’s mobile-food plan-review packet calls for floor plans, commissary details, equipment specifications and an application fee.
