Q1 sales momentum
According to Franchising.com, Grumpy’s posted steady month-over-month gains in the first quarter, with January up about 7.62%, February up roughly 8.62% and March climbing around 3.44%. The outlet reports that average unit volume hit $3.17 million. Grumpy’s president and CEO Daniel DeLeon said in a release carried by Franchising.com, “We’re seeing strong, steady growth to start the year, which reflects the consistency of our operating systems and the loyalty of our guests.”
Fleming Island buildout picks up speed
Corporate materials show that franchisees the Hoard family are converting the former Dick’s Wings on East West Parkway into the Fleming Island Grumpy’s, which the company lists as its sixth Northeast Florida location, Grumpy’s Restaurant says. Early local coverage pointed to a March to April opening window, according to WOKV, but more recent company updates lean toward a late spring or late second quarter debut as construction continues.
