Florida man waives extradition in Lincoln to face Iowa murder charge, victim identified

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A Florida man currently in jail in Lincoln for reportedly attacking a police officer at a Lincoln Arby’s has waived his right for extradition to face a murder charge in Iowa, according to court records.

Joseph Edward Bertolino, 36, of Jacksonville, Florida, appeared in Lancaster County court Friday morning following his arrest Tuesday night on suspicions of attempted first-degree assault on an officer.

On Friday, a hearing was held regarding the first-degree murder charge waiting for Bertolino in Pottawattamie County for the alleged slaying of a man who was found dead in a Carter Lake hotel.

The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Kenneth Bruce Gauff, of Omaha. His manner of death was ruled as a homicide…
