BODYCAM: Retired drug dog sniffs out washed-up marijuana bale at Florida beach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBS12) — It wasn’t the kind of fetch anyone expects at the beach.

On April 13, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man was walking his dog through Hanna Park when the pair came face-to-face with a tightly wrapped bale of marijuana that had washed ashore after high tide, and the dog – fittingly – was a retired narcotics canine.

The man quickly called the sheriff’s office, and officers responded to the park, confirmed the suspicious find, and collected what they jokingly called a “square grouper,” a term used for drug packages that end up drifting onto Florida’s coastline…
