NEW YORK (PIX11) — A heat advisory is in effect from noon Thursday until 8 p.m. on Friday as extreme heat and humid conditions settle in the city, which could drive heat indices up to near 100 degrees.
The max heat indices will be between noon and 6 p.m. on both days, according to the National Weather Service.

There may be strong to severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening on both days. The National Weather Service warns of possible wind gusts of up to 58 miles per hour, which could cause damage to trees and power lines.
Additionally, there is a risk of localized flash flooding and large hail up to one inch in size.
