Jersey City Ward D Councilman Ephros hosts budget town hall ahead of critical vote

Jersey City Ward D Councilman Jake Ephros hosted a packed hybrid town hall to address the city’s ongoing budget woes on Tuesday evening.

The meeting was held in person at Ephros’ office at 257 Central Ave. and was also livestreamed via Zoom, with the councilman taking questions both in person and online.

“It’s been a lot in the past few weeks and we want to make sure that we continue to be just transparent, accessible, talk through everything very communally,” Ephros said.

“I think a lot of folks know the basic story, but we walked into City Hall as a new council and the new administration less than six months ago, and walked into a $255 million budget deficit that was inherited through years and years and years of the previous administration’s really failure to responsibly manage Jersey City’s dollars.”…
