A rare September nor’easter is expected to cause major problems for the Northeast this weekend.
Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Virginia have already been warned that Friday’s nor’easter could bring coastal flooding and severe wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph.
“Widespread minor coastal flooding is expected Friday evening and Saturday morning around Jamaica Bay, the harbor, and Staten Island. Some spots could reach moderate levels, especially the eastern shore of Staten Island, the Rockaways, and the back bays of Queens. Low-lying areas near the Battery and parts of the Bronx waterfront could also see minor flooding,” NYC Emergency Management said. “Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected late Friday into Saturday morning, with isolated gusts near 45 mph. Secure loose objects like outdoor furniture and garbage containers before Friday.”…
