Former Lyndhurst Police Chief Richard Jarvis Jr.’s ties to his community run deep: His grandfather was also chief of police, and his father is now in his third term as a township commissioner.
For his part, Jarvis dedicated 25 years to his hometown’s police force, including seven at the helm of the roughly 55-officer department. This month, he retired with plaudits from his colleagues, who praised his tenure and wished him well in his future endeavors.
