KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man will spend life in prison after he was convicted last month of premeditated murder in a 2018 Kalamazoo shooting.
James Edward Reed was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

He was convicted of first-degree murder and four weapons-related felonies in April, eight years after he shot and killed 32-year-old Marcus Ford in Kalamazoo on Nov. 17, 2028. Ford’s case went cold for several years before charges were brought against Reed in November 2024.
Reed was already incarcerated in Jackson on unrelated assault, weapons and drug offenses…
