PHOTOS: Banners honoring patriots who helped ensure independence hung in Kalamazoo park

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — As America celebrates its 250th birthday on Saturday, one group in West Michigan is honoring those who helped to ensure our independence.

Members of the Lucinda Hinsdale Stone Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution put up banners of 22 Revolutionary War patriots who helped secure America’s independence, and later helped establish early West Michigan communities.
